Time is Running Out

Well 5 weeks have flown by and Binnie only has over a week left before heading north to our "summer" home.  It has been amazing what has been achieved in this time.  All credit to her!!

Now that the windows have gone in, it is now safer to finish the interior.  Therefore the plumbing is well under way as is the electrical work.

It also interesting to note that unlike Canada, windows don't really have to keep the cold out but more importantly the wind and dust

Outside the perimeter wall is complete on three sides, apart from plastering and painting, and the push is on to finish the front section which will have the gate.

Boundary Wall

The phone has reported that the money has arrived.  It’s less than the last 2 transfers.  Anyways, I will pay the builder for the wall and the septic tank, the pit sand and the river sand.

They ran out of stock bricks for building the pillars for boundary wall. I have ordered 4 more pallets plus 4 pallets of 6” blocks!  The boundary wall is almost finished.  They were working over the weekend.

I have purchased 4 rhino tapes and 3 plaster primer and a ceiling paint.  They will prime the inside and we will do our decorations in due course.  [Sorry, what is this about doing our own painting!!!]  I have asked them to paint the outside of the house though.

I will be off to pay for the windows so that they can install them this week.

Will keep you posted..

Chinese New Year

Good morning:

Braintree must be CTM, that is where I got all the sanitary ware including bathtubs 2 , toilets 3, wash basins, all the flooring. The transport was 1500 p.  They are all in boxes.   Just got home after spending 2 hours with the laborers unloading 900 kg of material!

Once the plumber assembles the the baths and toilets I will send a picture. Probably by next Tuesday after the China man has installed the windows.

Windows people are still working on them.  However, we are delayed by Chinese New Year. The flooring might have to wait.  I didn’t purchase the grout and adhesive.

Friday I am off to get the lights and fire door.  My brother says he will help bring the door back.

So it goes.

Progress Marches On

The septic system is well on the way to completion and then attention will turn to the plumbing fixtures inside.

Meanwhile the ceilings are going up with the cornices around the edges.  It is hoped they will all be in place by Thursday.

Saturday shopping + Sunday church

Good afternoon:

It’s partly cloudy but still warm.

Saturday I drove to the city and came back by bus.

I met with Tonic and Laone at the Airport Junction Mall to trade the vehicle and the money as she needed to leave very early morning to go back to Charles Hill.  She asked if I could go with her and come back by bus the next day. I was ok with it but mom was concerned with an overnight night round trip for that distance.

The good thing is that I will borrow her truck on Monday and push the shopping list. Laone went with me to Nkoyaphiri to pay for the blocks to make the boundary wall.

I still have about 6,000.00 pula balance with them.

The carpenters were working hard putting up the ceiling. They were working on the fourth room last night.

The tenant has moved out of the small house and so they kept all the supplies in the 21/2 and are staying in it to save money on transport. I just hope they do most of the work before month end.

I went to church (AFM Thamaga) where Hazel goes.  She sings in the choir, praise and worship team.  The service lasted for 3 hours but it didn’t feel like it!   Hazel gave me a ride home and then went back to church since they were going to have a meeting and practice for an upcoming conference.

Back home I am having  a lazy Sunday afternoon sitting beside the fan making plans for the week ahead.  Then I will write the figures for Dave’s class.

So it goes!
